work and play (brisbane)

Some quick snapshots of our morning spent in Brisbane with our beautiful friends Chris and Diana and their adorable baby boy, Augie. We stopped for breakfast at Hamptons Kitchen in Paddington, a beautiful old Queenslander-come-cafe with stunning views off the back verandah.

Brisbane really surprised me this time... I've never really spent much time there, and when I have it's been spent around the CBD (and CBD's are never particularly appealing). But the city suburbs in spring are so picturesque! Undulating landscape dotted with beautiful Queenslander architecture and jacarandas in bloom on every corner... it was really quite something. We would have loved to have stayed longer.

Eulalie: "Higher Mum, Higher!" - she's taken to calling me 'Mum'. I hope it's just a phase... I quite prefer being 'Mummy'. She's growing up too fast.

Marguerite: She's slowly getting used to all the (sticky lollipop) hands-on lovin' from her big sister.

Consider me back on the '52 Project' wagon. I think I need this type of commitment to keep me motivated to pick up the camera... it's been gathering too much dust lately!

Linking up with Jodi.

Hello! I hope you are all well. I miss this space and hope to get back into a more regular blogging rhythm soon.

Life has been busy. Last weekend we travelled to Noosa where I photographed a beautiful, intimate wedding (I'll post photos on my photography blog in the coming weeks). The booking was made well before I fell pregnant with Marguerite, and once I realised I was expecting, I must admit I had some concerns about the wedding being so soon after my due date. But... I wanted to honour my commitment to capturing the couples special day... and I'm so glad I did.

In the end, Paddy and I decided we'd all go down for an extended weekend getaway. It was a complete whirlwind trip, but it was so nice to lose ourselves in new surroundings and leave the monotony at home, if only for a few short days. Our lovely friends travelled up from Brisbane to give Paddy some company and support while he looked after the babies. Everything went off without a hitch, and we all returned home exhausted but happy.

These are just a few moments of down-time we managed to capture amidst the chaos of travelling with a newborn and toddler. It's quite a challenge composing pictures with a baby strapped to your chest, let me tell you!

I'm bonding so beautifully with this new babe of mine.

Such a cuddly, content little cherub.

I'm so happy she chose us.

Wilted blooms from the posy Lalie gave her sister at her birth // that look - complete adoration  // little rag doll sisters; naturally dyed and handmade by a local textile artist

I'm not quite sure what happened to September. Marguerite is one month old today and I can hardly believe it. She's already so much bigger (12 pounds!) and more alert - the beautiful newborn days are slipping away so fast and I'm starting to see glimpses of that next happy-chubby-baby stage. We've had a few adorable little smiles from this delightful little girl who seems so content with her new life in this great big world (especially when in mums arms or in the sling).

Having daughters is pretty amazing... seeing the girls together makes my heart swell. My own sister (who I miss dearly - hi Stephie!) is such a treasure and I'm happy that our girls will get to experience that kind of bond too.

Lalie's love for and acceptance of her sister was immediate and unconditional. She's not bothered by her crying... she sings to her, plays with her tiny hands and feet and asks to hold her all the time. It's very, very sweet.
