life with marguerite

Wednesday, 18 September 2013

Thank you so much for all the congratulatory messages welcoming our precious Marguerite. I still can't really quite believe she's here. The past two-and-a-bit weeks have absolutely flown by. With Paddy already back at work, our blissful babymoon has come to an end... but I'm planning to continue the rhythm of slow days at home and easy outings to the beach for all the necessities - fresh air, vitamin D and gelato!

Eulalie has been absolutely amazing. I am constantly in awe of her and how grown up she has become. She has demonstrated some pretty incredible patience over the last couple of weeks and showers her baby sister with love and gentle affection. So many people have commented on the resemblance of the girls - it's kind of crazy how similar they are! At times I feel like I'm looking at newborn Lalie all over again. I think it's rather nice that Marguerite so obviously belongs here.

Sometimes I can't believe how smoothly it's all going... I keep waiting for everything to fall in a heap (which I'm sure it will, several times over)...but at the moment I'm just soaking everything in and really enjoying her, something that I found hard to do first time 'round, with the added stress and anxieties that came with being a first-time-mum.

Marguerite is easily settled, but loves to be close. At the moment I'm co-sleeping all night and cuddling all day, but I don't mind. This time around I know just how fleeting these early weeks are, so I'm not getting frustrated... I'm just embracing it and enjoying it while it lasts.

I've had a couple of friends and family members comment on how happy I seem to be - and I am! I realise now how exhausted and moody I was feeling throughout my pregnancy. With babe finally in arms, I'm feeling happy, content and energised.

Life with our little Marguerite is very sweet indeed.

** The little poesy on the table was given to me at the hospital by Lalie. She chose it all by herself. So sweet.
