"A portrait of my child, once a week, every week, in 2013."

Eulalie: Light and shade; perhaps the perfect way to describe your little self at the moment. Your two-year-old emotions are intensely passionate and often volatile. There's little grey area, it's all or nothing. In a way, it's really quite profoundly beautiful and raw.

We spent Friday afternoon cleaning up under the house and sorting through the dusty collection of antique furnishings patiently waiting to be restored. The oak wardrobe was a gift from my mum, and once it's given a light sand, will begin it's next life in Lalie's room, where it will become home to pretty little girl clothes, shoes and trinkets.

My favourites from last week are the sweet portraits over at Mother Down Under and Oscar Lucinda.

Joining in with Jodi's 52 Project. Read all about it here.

  7. This goes down as your best photo yet, in my opinion. I think you might be the queen of the "beautifully styled" portrait. Lalie looks like she's about to leap through the wardrobe and into Narnia x

    1. Thanks, Jodi... I nearly titled this portrait "The Lalie, the itch and the wardrobe" - she was sitting there scratching mosquito bits on her ankles! ha!

  11. Yes truly like stepping into Narnia, your gorgeous photo has such an old-world feel to it -- I can just imagine a Dutch or French master painting this scene, and capturing like you did so beautifully that wonderful light, the muted colours, her expression, the moment in time. ''Girl on Chair'' is just perfect.

  13. I love this.. The image and the words. As the mother of a two year old, your text resonates with me! The light and colour in this picture are so beautiful. And that hairstyle is one of my favorites for my Eve- if she stays still long enough for me to do it.

That little girl is growing more and more beautiful by the day...I actually popped in to follow up on my book post comment, to say, oh yes, out stealing horses is a great read. i started it only a few days ago and just have a couple of pages to go...and it was a lovely surprise to see the mention - thank you lady x

  21. you've captured the universal experience of being two, I think. I'm finding the two-year-old regidity somewhat of a omg headsmash facepunch.
but it's also so lovely, just like this image.
