The Brooklyn Bridge. A walk I won't soon forget.

My lens stopped focusing just after Christmas. It had been temperamental for a while, and I had been struggling along with it until it finally packed it in - just a few days shy of the warranty expiration (phew!).

I'm glad that it happened though - it was an unexpected but very welcome reminder that life can be just as beautiful - perhaps even more so - when your focus goes by the wayside.

Somehow, in losing all the sharp details... I found a little clarity.

P.S - Thank you for the sweet birthday wishes for our girl x

Our sweet Eulalie celebrated her second birthday over the weekend.

Every day I watch this miracle evolve and unfold, as she reveals herself to me... piece by precious piece.

Every day my heart swells with a little more love.

And every day a small part of it shatters, as I realise that with each new day... a little piece of her leaves me as she becomes more independent in this great big world.

A great big world that is so much sweeter with her in it.

I thought I'd kick off my NYC posts with a few photos of the Brooklyn neighbourhood where we based ourselves during our city visit. The apartment we rented was located in Brooklyn Heights, and we spent quite a bit of our time exploring the area and wandering into the charming surrounding suburbs. Brunch in Carroll Gardens or Cobble Hill quickly became part of our holiday rhythm, and we discovered some gorgeous cafe's* in the process.

These picturesque Brooklyn streets, lined with elegant trees and beautiful historic brownstones, have such a quaint village-esque feel, I'd often find myself forgetting that such an enormous concrete jungle was only a ten minute train ride away. I'd soon be reminded though, when we reached the promenade at the end of our street and were met with the most breathtaking views of lower Manhattan.

If we were lucky enough to spend a year in New York, we would most definitely set ourselves up in Brooklyn. This place will always have a little piece of my heart.

* I'm going to compile a series of our favourite New York Cafe's... all of them really deserve a whole post to themselves!

P.S - I have much more of Brooklyn to share, including Williamsburg and the flea , DUMBO and smorgasburg, the renegade craft fair and a bunch of cafe reviews - stay tuned!

Hello and Happy New Year!

With 2012 all wrapped up, I guess Christmas is already old news... but I just wanted to document a couple of photos from our Christmas morning. Our day was quiet - filled with family and far too much  good food. With temperatures soaring, every day since has been a blissful cycle of swims, beaches, fish and chips and lazy days at home.

2013. I can hardly believe it.

My new years resolution? Less talk, more action. I'm not going to elaborate here, because, well... that would just be more talk, less action!

Wishing you a year full of positive change and growth. x
