When I convinced Paddy that we needed to spend $350 on a bassinet, my argument centered around the fact that our baby would sleep in it for at least the first six months and that I would take the portable moses basket everywhere. We would look back on this as the best investment we ever made.

Needless to say, I can count on one hand the amount of times the moses basket has left that stand. And she's supposed to stay in there for another three months? I wonder if Seed Organic make a lid for this thing? ...kiiiiiidding. (mostly).

P.S - I apologise for the cerrazzzy amount of photos... I tried to edit, honest!

She's decided she is ready to face the world. These are her new favourite positions - facing out so she can observe and absorb all the goings on (especially the dogs chasing ball in the back yard).

I can't get enough of these two and their little 'moments'.

That last photo cracks me up - they are watching the TV. I can't remember if it was ABC2 for Kids or ABC News 24... they seem equally engrossed, so it's anyone's guess.

Note: Some of these photos were taken a little while ago... finally got around to posting them here.

Weekend pancakes (or in this case, public holiday pancakes) are becoming our little family ritual. Okay, so Eulalie lies on floor cushions while Paddy and I stuff ourselves silly... but I do look forward to the day that she can sit with us at the table and eat pancakes with us throw pancakes at us on a lazy Sunday morning.
He's all strawberries and syrup while I'm strictly lemon and sugar -probably quite indicative of our respective personalities... super sweet vs sweet 'n' sour!

P.S - How cute are those bloomers? They're made out of vintage fabric - from Shorties in Newtown. They are getting quite a run!

P.P.S - Quietly hoping Lalie grows into those toes...

I have a faraway friend who sends me cute parcels filled with random thoughtful gifts... just because. Pink salt, French nougat (which didn't last long enough to make the photoshoot), Milk Magazine and adorable baby clothes found at Bondi market (refer to romper in bunny ears shot).
All this in brown paper packages tied up with string. These are a few of my favourite things.

Thanks Miriam, sending love (and a parcel soon I promise!) to you in Sydney.

The weather has finally cooled to the point of being able to venture into the back yard. Lalie is mesmerised by the dogs and it warms my heart to see them so gentle with her. Millie the beagle feels the need to be so close she just about sits on top of her. I was worried that she might become jealous, but it's the exact opposite. It's like she knows that she is the baby of our family and we all need to protect her. Aren't animals funny like that?

So now that I'm a mother... I figured I may as well go all out and get crafty. And take ridiculous photos of a three month old wearing rabbit ears purchased at a two dollar shop and covered in cute fabric in an attempt to make the whole exercise seem less tacky. Did it work? Oh, I don't care. I'm sleep deprived.

Happy Easter... every...bunny.

Are these not the most delicious looking Easter Leggs you've ever seen?
Hope you're having a wonderful Easter break!

Indulging in a little doughnuts and design on a Thursday morning. This issue of Elle Decoration is amazing. How incredible is this converted NY warehouse? It manages to be industrial, earthy, modern and bohemian all at once. I am in love.

3 months

Wednesday, 20 April 2011

Three months yesterday and we are smitten beyond imagining. It was only two posts ago that she was two months! It's flying by and I am astonished every day at the changes. She is laughing, talking, cooing, gurgling, reaching for things, DROOLING, kicking like a maniac in the bath, SPEWING, doing a strange running-man-esque move on her change mat, sucking her fist(s)/fingers/thumb and completely mesmerised by abc2 for kids.

Oh, how we love our little Lalie Bug!

If you're reading this, stop now and back up your data.
Two weeks ago (hence the absence) my iMac died a sudden and painful death. The hard drive erased itself. Erased. Gone. I did not have anything "backed up". Suddenly I feel like a total moron, like Carrie in that SATC episode where her laptop dies.

I still can't even bear to talk to anyone about it. All those photos. Nearly five years worth of pictorial memories are lost forever, dissolved into thin air. Of course, I am upset about losing all our photographs documenting our life in Sydney, but what pains me the most is the loss of pictures from the last three months - the first three months of Eulalies birth (including her birth and the minutes and hours following). I do have some images that I can salvage from this blog and from emailed pictures sent to friends and family. But the pictures I miss the most aren't the ones where the lighting was nice, or it was framed well, or she was smiling in that one - it was all the everyday moments and rituals, images that wouldn't really impress anyone - but to us they were magical.

Of course, in the big scheme of things, this is hardly a big deal. There are people all over the world who have lost everything in these devastating Natural disasters that have been occurring in the last few months. A few photos is nothing. We have our health, our family, our home.

Oh, well - a fresh start. My computer took more than four days to be repaired, and the store policy promised that after the fourth day, the repair was free. So I guess there's the silver lining.
